Inspirational photo

Hello everybody,

Today I have a project I made for a challenge, Melissa Philips has on her blog. She has been putting up some inspirational photos from A Creative Mint blog for a while. The photos are stunning! I wanted to do them all but pressed for time. But this photo is just so attractive, I had to use it to make a project.
Here is the photo for you.

I told you! The photo is stunning and attractive. Looove the orange and white with a hint of purple. There are other photos from A Creative Mint, that Melissa has on her blog as well. I will definitely have to give them all a go one by one.Anyway, here is my take on the challenge.

I made a altered frame and a birthday card. Here is the close up of the frame.

I have used a combination of PTI and SU stamps on the project. Punched them out with circle punch and matted them on to scalloped circle punch and added some rhinestones and buttons and arranged them on the frame. Some closeups of the elements on the frame.

For the card, I have used the damask stamp from SU Friends 24-7 for the background. I am loving doing up my own pattern paper. Particularly the damask orange background on white cardstock is just beautiful. I wouldn't mind such a wall paper as a feature wall on my living room. Will make a great feature wall. Maybe a different color? Hehe!

Some closeups of the Prima Pearl flourishes on the card.Subtle yet adds dimension to the card.

I have started using my collection of scrapbook embellieshments to make cards. Feeling nice about it, because I have not used a lot of embellies I have for almost 11 months. Eversince I started to make cards using stamps, I have not touched my scrapbook papers and embellishments. I even thought of giving them away! But now, I have started using them on cards. So I will have a few of them and give most of them away! That way I will have some storage space available for new stuff.

Thanks Melissa for the photo and an awesome challenge. Have a great day everybody!

We have a great team forum, Business Building Club and heaps of support from like minded demonstrators.

This will be a monthly event happening on the last day of every month. You may have just come from
Kim Meiklejohn's blog, but if you are starting here, don’t worry … you can make the complete journey just by following the links at the end of each post. There are 14 stops along the way and we hope you will visit each one to see the wonderful creations we have to show you! If you leave a comment on each and every blog and then email Nikki at nikki@inkyart.com.au, your name will be put into the hat to win some beautiful blog candy. There is a deadline of 72 hours to leave your comments and only non SU demos are eligible to win the candy - although we'd love all visitors to leave some comments please.

This is our second tour. We decided upon the theme of Easter. At the end of each post there will be a link to take you to the next stop on the tour. It would be fantastic if you could leave a comment on each blog! So grab a cuppa, and set off on what we are hoping will be an inspirational journey!

Here is my project for the blog hop. I have made a card and a mini milk carton filled with chocolate eggs.

Some closeup of the card. I had just the easter wishes stamps from Occassional Greetings stamp set which I have used as background for both the card and the milk carton. Stamp-a-magic was used extensively to create the background.

I chose the colors Purple, White and Green for this project because easter color purple is indicative of royalty. It is said that the color purple brings wealth. The color green brings ray of hope. White color signifies purity and grace.
Here is the closeup of the mini milk carton. Just google for the template and print it directly on the cardstock, then cut, score and assemble the milk carton. Simple and easy. I used circle punch and punched a circle on one side of the milk carton and glued a piece of acetate inside and made a window on the milk carton.

Here is the picture of the package again.

Recipe to make this project involves
CS: Kraft, Confetti White, Elegant Eggplant
Inks: Old Olive,Perfect Plum
Stamp sets: Occassional Greetings, Bitty Birthday and Seeing Spots
Accessories: 5/8' grossgrain Old Olive ribbon, Button Bouquet, Hemp twine, Circle punch, Acetate sheet, Eyelet Border punch  Rhinestones from Kaisercraft and Cadbury easter eggs (Yum!)

Did you enjoy reading and looking at my project? Hope it gave you some idea to make your project. Well, thats it from me. You next stop is to Kathryn's blog. She has a beautiful easter project too. Just make sure you leave a comment on each blog and email Nikki to win the blog candy.

Compose a card #5

Hello everybody,

This is my second post for today. I love blog hops and I participated in the PTI blog hop earlier today. Wow! I am still hopping I should tell you. Great work by so many fabulous stampers. Anyway, this post is to showcase my take on "Compose a Card  Challenge #5" by Becky Ohelers. Here is the recipe and the inspirational photos for the challenge.

Polka dots are my fav. They look awesome and never ages. Isn't the dress cute? Love it. I decided to make a dress to put on my card.  I also wanted to use Vellum on the dress. So here is how my dress on the card turned out.

Loving your challenges, Becky! Thanks once again.
Have a great day.

Papertrey Blog Hop

Good morning everybody,

Its 5.30AM on the 26th of Feb in Australia. Its a great Friday morning! Kids and hubby still asleep. I am sitting with my morning cup of aromatic freshly brewed coffee and typing this down. This is my second blog hop with Papertrey. Anyway, I loved Dawn Mcvey's Top Ten and Top Ten additions stamp set. Best of all I loved the scrapbook page, she made using the stamp set and scalloped square punch. Here is the picture of Dawn's scrapbook page.

I love the colors, the layout and the heart shape and some pictures added. She is brillant and very creative.
I tried to recreate this for this month's papertrey blog hop. I used the Top Ten and Top Ten Addition stamp set and a similar layout but I framed the page instead. Better to see my take than me trying to explain it!

I enjoyed making this. Loved the end result. Here are some closeups.

I have used tag punch instead of scallop square punch, added more dimensions and textures, used blue color instead of red and some more stamping using some SU stamps.

I recieved WOW! from my husband for this one, the moment he saw it. So, thanks for the fabulous inspiration Dawn! You are very creative.Love all your creations. Thanks for another awesome blog hop and thanks for visiting my blog.Kids are awake and I got to go and help them get ready for school. Have a great time hopping.

Leftover alphabet stickers!

Hello everybody,

I have a lots of leftover alphabet stickers from Basic Grey. I had them with me knowing that one day I will have some use for it. Well, today was the day. My daughter, Aditi is at home today. She has severe cold, nose block, slightly warm and irritable. So we sat down to do something "interesting". According to her, making cards is "interesting". I will agree with her too! After spending about one hour together, this is what we came up with

Aren't they cool cards? I love them. Its a fantastic card for girl's birthday.Aditi has two friends's birthday coming up and she is happy to give these cards as she also made them (of course with my help!). Very proud of her achievement. Poor thing, can't even breathe through her nose and eyes watering, but still determined to get the stickers in straight line. Love her perseverance and determination. Good for her in her future. Anyway, here is the set of cards.

Would love to hear your comments on these cards. Especially for Aditi. She is 8 years old and very interested in crafts.
Well, tomorrow I have another project to show you. So keep tunned in tomorrow early.
See you and have a nice day.

Compose a card #4

Hi everybody,

I have been doing Becky's "Compose a card challenge" every week. I missed last week challenge! I was very very busy. But I made the card today. So I am going to show it anyway.First, here is the challenge recipe and inspirational photo.

And here is my take on the challenge.

Well, I did not have the positive and negative stamps. Neither did I have stamps coordinating with the pattern paper I own! So I decided to keep with the sketch but used a pattern paper with felt design instead. The black damask has felt texture and is raised. So nice to rub fingers on them. I have used Say it with Style Stamp set from PTI, black flower punched from Basic Black cardstock using SU's 5 petal punch and the green felt flower is from SU as well.I really liked the color combination and the wide card too. A great addition to my library. Thanks Becky!
Becky has her 5th challenge up on her blog. Its got polka dots which I love on cards. Again unusual color combination. So I better start making this one as I am free this afternoon.

Oh! SU team under Claire Daly is having blog hop end of every month. I am participating in it. There is a blog candy too. So tune in on 28th of Feb to see my project. Have a cup of coffee and hop on to 14 different blogs to see some fabulous projects.
See you all soon. Have a great day!

FTL #79

A nice sunday afternoon, the guests have just left after lunch. I had sometime to unwind before another set of guests arrive for dinner. All I wanted to do was a simple card. So I checked for this week's sketch on Clean and Simple blog. I liked the sketch instantly. Check it out here
Here is my take on the challenge

I have used cuttlebug embossing folder to emboss and then rubbed Smokey Shadow on it. Love the effect.Love the sketch. You could do what you want with the background. Just stamp, dry emboss, emboss stamped image on the background, use patten paper or leave it just plain.
Thanks for another awesome sketch. Have a great weekend.

Just Add Ink #5

Afternoon everybody,

Its been very very busy for me this week. We have taken the decision to build a house! So a lot of time is done researching and it is exhausting. We also had unexpected guests home.I have not gone near my desk for past 3 days.I finally got a chance to make something today. There has been a lot of chatting about this blog called Just Add Ink. So I hopped on to see what all this hype is all about and glad I did because the blog is just fabulous. They have wonderful tips, challenges and some tutorials as well. All projects on the blog are done using Stampin' Up! products but in challenges you can use whatever products you want to. Thats nice of them! This week they have "Just Add Dimension" challenge.
Stamp it, colour it, dye it, punch it, stick it on, stand it up - it's up to you!
Your creation can be a card, scrapbooking LO or a 3D project.
The most important thing is to
THINK OUTSIDE THE SQUARE
There are some beautiful inspirations on the blog by the design team.

Here is my take on the challenge.

I have used Kraft,Basic Black cardstock from SU, Stamps from PTI, accessories- ribbon, circle punch, inks, brads and white gel pen from SU. Rhinestones from Kaisercraft, border punch from Fiskars and pencils pinched from my daughter Aditi.

These would be perfect for school going kids or add a parker pen and say thanks to the teacher!
Hope you like it. Thanks for the challenge and I think its awesome.

Have a great weekend.

Butterfly card

Hi everybody,

I thought I will be overdoing if I do three posts in a day. So I waited for Friday to post the card I cased. This is a beautiful technique. Just use markers and wow! the effect is striking. I found the tutorial at Nicole Heady's blog. Click Here for the link to the tutorial. Isn't it awesome? Love the effect of the butterfly. I tried doing the same thing using SU Butterfly Prints stamp set and SU markers.
Here is the card.

So what do you think? Isn't it striking? Simple yet beautiful.Maybe I will incorporate it in my class.

Ok, today I am busy. So will see you all on Tuesday! Have a great weekend.

Hugs!
