JAI #19

After an exciting trip to Perth and some shopping, I am back home. Its kind of refreshing to take a small break. Just brings things into perspective. From my list of challenges to do, here is the first one.
Just Add Ink has a color challenge this week. The colors are

Beautiful colors and love each one of them seperately. I was stuck using them together as they are all bright solid colors. So I decided to use a lot of neutral. Hence done a CAS card.

Now this worked I think. A lot of neutral and the focus on the colors.I have used PTI's Take Three Summer stamp set and stamped them using SU's Taken with Teal, Elegant Eggplant and Melon Mambo ink pads, punched out using  SU square punch, rounded the corners and mounted using double sided foam. Sentiment is also from the same set.
Thanks for another bright color challenge. Looking forward for the next.

2S4Y # 53

Can't believe I am doing a second post in a day. A couple of my friends and myself met this afternoon at my friend's place for lunch and some stamping. So I made a card using 2S4Y sketch #53. Since I am going away tomorrow to Perth, I will have no access to internet. When I return back on Monday, it will be late. That leaves me no choice but to do a second post today.
Here is the sketch for you

And here is my card.

I have used products from SU, PTI and Basic Grey. The cardstocks and Stamp sets are from SU, the ribbon, leaf stamp and button are from PTI and the checked pattern paper is from Basic Grey.
I just love the color combination of White, Bashful Blue and Certainly Celery. Will use this color combo more I think! OK, I got to go and pack up for tomorrow's journey and sleep early to start early. Its a 7 hour drive. I am looking forward to drive...
Goodnight!

OLW-- Overlapping!

Morning eveybody,

What a weather today here! Its cold and raining. My house is scattered with damp clothes and its miserable outside.I don't like layering clothes because it comes heavy and I get headaches because of  heavy clothing around my neck. I survive mostly on a dose of paracetamol on days like these.

Anyway, I have couple of cards for Susan's One Layer Wednesday challenge and its "Overlapping" this week. Overlap a sentiment with an image or images on the one layer card. Here is the link to her challenge.
These are my take on the challenge.

For this card, I have used Prima and PTI stamps using SU Close to Cocoa, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olve inks and sponged the edges with Tim Holtz ink.

This card has SU's Sip by Sip stamp set stamped using Sand Sahara and Basic Black inks and edges sponged.
I am actually enjoying one layer cards. So beautiful, crisp and clean. I think I should stop buying pattern paper. Thanks for the challenge one again.Have a great day!

PTI May Blog Hop

FELT- is the theme for this month's blog hop at Papertrey Ink.
"This month's blog hop is all about fabulous felt!  We know you love this new addition to our product
line-up and we would love to see what you are doing with it!  From borders to focal points, paper crafts
to sewing projects.  Hair accessories to home decor accents.  Cards to scrapbook layouts.  We want to
see it all!"

 Here is my project.

Its a sling bag for my 8 year daughter, Aditi. I have been meaning to do this for sometime and when I saw "felt" as the theme for this month's hop, I was thrilled. I have used PTI's black felt to make this sling bag. Flowers and brad buttons are from SU, orange color wool is from my stash and ribbon is PTI's grossgrain ribbon.
Here is some more photo.

Now I can't wait to see all your projects.Happy Hopping :)

Papertrey Chicks - Emboss it

I am late for this challenge but I though I should post it as I made the card a long time ago. Its just the time to blog everything which is so difficult to find. Since we are building our house, we (my husband and me) are doing a lot of research on what product to use, visiting the suppliers, discussing the finances, agreeing and disagreeing on a things.........blah blah!!! And when kids are done with school for the day, I run a taxi service to various classes. And its dark and freezing after that....End of the day! Its like WOW!
Anyway, here is my take on the technique challenge at Papertrey Chicks. The challenge is Heat Embossing.

Close up of the embossing.

I love the color orange and its very cool with cream. All products used are from PTI except the orange thread. Thanks for the technique challenge, Barbra!
Got to go now. Off to see some frameless shower screens....
Celebrate today and everyday!

OLW- Embellishments

It feels like I have not blogged for a few days but its only been a couple of days. Anyway, I managed to make a card for One Layer Wednesday challenge by Susan Raihala. This week is to use embellishment stamps on the card, like ribbon stamp, button stamp, stitching stamp....... I have used stitching stamp and a flourish stamp for my card. Here is the card.

I sponged the edges for a vintage look. Stamps are from PTI (Big and Bold Wishes and Fancy Flourishes) and I don't remember which company the stitch like stamp came from. I have had them for ages now. Infact, its lost its sticky surface and would not stick on the acrylic block.Any ideas how to get the sticky surface back on acrylic stamps? Please let me know, I have a few unused stamps which don't stick to the block!
Anyway, I like how the card turned out to be. Thanks for another awesome challenge, Susan.
Have a great Sunday!

In the top 5!

Yay! My card is in the top 5 of Just Add Ink challenge #17. Yay! excited. Thank you. You have made my day. I was down today as I had sprained my feet in the gym and sort of hopping around in the house. I have loads of dishes to wash, vaccum the house and tidy up the place generally. I am sort of postponing the chores, sitting with the laptop and browsing. Then I saw my card in the top 5 at JAI blog and now feeling a lot better. lol! This is my second time in the top 5 and I get to wear this badge. Thank you JAI team.

Have a great day! I am going to wash the dishes :(

JAI # 17

Hey everybody,

I was preparing for my class at school and making sample cards. I am using stamp-a-magic with Rose is a Rose stamp set to make my own pattern paper. I have done it before and made a card. The girls wanted to make a similar one and so I set out making the paper. I then released, that the card can qualify for JAI #17 challenge. So here I go blogging the card (s) and entering the challenge at the last minute.
And here is another card I have used stamp-a-magic for the Rose flower.
And I have also used Photoshop to edit the first two photos to get the blurry border. I have used the coordinating colors as borders instead of the white.

Just Add Ink has a super cool blog hop showcasing different techniques. Thanks for showing sifferent techniques. All your projects are great. If only I had 48 hours per day...... Sigh!
Anyway, I still need to cut papers and ribbons...Got to go!
Have a great evening!

Thank you....

Hi everybody,

I wanted to share a thank you card I made for my real estate agent from whoom we bought a piece of land to build our house. She is also my DD Aditi's class teacher's sister. So we came to know her well. She is also our current neighbour :) This card is inspired by Carly Robertson's card here and I have used Melissa Phillip's photo challenge. Here is Leslie's photo for you.

Here is my card.
And a close up of the flower which I colored using copic markers.

I have used PTI's clear cardstock, Raspberry Fizz cardstock. SU's Sweet Slumber Speciality DSP, PTI's In Bloom and Big & Bold Wishes stamp sets, PTI's Sweet Blush copic marker trios, PTI's Vintage Spring mix button, Sweet Blush ribbon, Prima leaves, SU's Dazzling Diamonds and Kaisercraft's Pink Rhinestones.

I have discovered a website which plays old Indian flim songs. In India, flims/movies are a big thing and they are very dramatic in all ways. Generally each flim/movie will have atleast 5 songs. Some of them are nice songs. Since settling in Australia, I have not been regularly able to see any flims/movies or hear songs. I suddenly remembered my college days and wanted to hear some of the old songs. I am so glad I found the website. The songs are currently playing on the background ( big grin on my face :) ). Talking about songs, Eurovision is this weekend. I can't wait. We as a family enjoyed last year's Eurovision. I still have the first two songs on my iPod and we sing them all the time. No appointment for Friday evening :).
Anyway,I am in the process of making a home decor as well. I will share it when I complete. Better get going then.Have a great evening!

Papertrey Chicks Challenge #2

Morning everybody,
A beautiful Monday morning. Nice and warm after a freezing night. Sun is out shining brightly. Kids still at home as today is pupil free day. Aditi's friend had come over for a play and Siddarth is going to his friend's house for play. Thats good balance I reckon! I managed to make a card for Papertrey Chicks  Challenge #2.
Its a Design Team CASE challenge. Here is the challenge for you.
Thats Betsy Veldman's gorgeous card. Here is my take on the challenge.

Betsy's card is so pretty and I love the square panels. I have tried my best. I goofed up on the sentiment. I had already adhered the squares and then I tried to stamp the sentiment. Silly me! It did not work. I messed up and so there is a sentiment tag on its place. I like all the white and pop of colors. Great selection.
Hope you like it.OK! I need to weed the garden and trim some of my overgrown plants. Then prepare lunch.
See you all soon.

FTL #90

Morning everybody,

Beautiful Sunday morning. Sun is out and its still cold. Slept in today. Not a good idea I think. Head is a bit heavy due to over sleeping. Anyway,I want to share a card using Fall to layout #90 sketch. Here is the sketch for you.

And here is my card.

I have added a pattern paper on the kraft base cardstock. The panel is stamped with PTI's Fancy Flourishes and Butterfly Dreams stamps using Smokey Shadow and Melon Berry ink. I have added a pink rhinestone on the butterfly. I brought the ribbon down from the main sketch because I don't like tying ribbon on the top of the card/panel. Sentiment is also from PTI. The black ribbon is from SU.

Thanks for another awesome sketch. Have a great weekend!

OLW-Ribbon :)

I have a card today for Susan Raihala's One Layer Wednesday- Add a ribbon challenge. I did not want to tie a ribbon around the card with a bow. But still add ribbon to a one layer card! So I came up with this one.

So cute isn't it? Its different and I like it. I will not ever try such things on my own. Thats why I like challenges. And one layer card is so out of the box thing for me. So thanks Susan for the challenge. I am looking forward to the next one already. Can't wait! Here is another photo.

Well, I have to go now. I have another card to share tomorrow.I have decided to make atleast 3 more card over the weekend. And I have to make a framed artwork for a friend of mine. I have no idea at the moment. Thinking!!!!
 Anyway, have a great weekend!

2S4Y #52

Evening everybody,

A quick post today. I have a card I made using 2S4Y sketch #52. Here is the sketch for you.
Here is my take on the sketch.

I made a apron card. It was on my mind to make one for sometime and when I saw this sketch, I knew this is it. Because the layered scalloped border was perfect for the apron. Sorry for a bad picture. Weather is not very good at the moment. Here is another picture. Hope this one is better than the first one.

The paper is actually gift wrapping paper. I love it so much I picked couple of them and been hoarding them for few years. The ribbon and the brads are from SU. Laces are from my stash given by my friends as RAK. The punches are from SU and the sentiment is computer printed.

Thanks for the sketch. Loved making the apron. I looove vintage and retro aprons. I have a few and I like them. Anyway, Have a great evening!

Teacher's appreciation gifts...

Hey all! Today I wanted to share couple of gifts I made for two trainee teachers "in training"( Edited:Thanks Sue! I just could not get that word "Trainee" out of my brain today. I am too preoccupied today) at my children's school. Two ladies who are training to be teacher are currently teaching (or to say they are doing their final practicals) my DD Aditi's and DS Siddarth's classes. My children talk a lot about them and about their classes all the time. They enjoy their classes. They both are doing a wonderful job and I sure they will become excellent teachers in the near future. Their last date is this Friday and to show appreciation for their work, I made them these gifts.

The one above is for my son's trainee teacher "in training". The box that carries all the gift items is Trendy Tools template from Lauren Meader's My Time Made Easy. I was lucky to find the apple mug. I was so excited when I saw it in Kmart.lol! The clear box is from PTI and it contains mocha sachets and a thank you note card. I have used PTI's Teacher's apple stamp set for both the gift set.

This one above is for my daughter's trainee teacher "in training". Again I used Lauren Meader's Trendy Tools template. Its basically a template for tool box. Very versatile and can be used otherwise as well like how I have used mine. This is a stationary set. The clear box contains pen, highlighter, staples,calculator...., there is a tic tac , notepad, couple of pencils on a holder and a thank you note card. Again I have used PTI's Teacher's Apple and SU's Vintage Vogue stamp set for this gift set. Papers for both the projects are from SU and Basic Grey.Ribbons are also from SU except the red and black gingham ribbon.

Siddarth and Aditi like it soooo much. On Monday, when Aditi was home sick, she helped out making hers. She was thrilled so see it finish as we made it over 4 days. Both can't wait to give their set to their teachers.
Hope you like them. I so enjoyed making it. I am now off to get prepared for today's class.
Have a great day!
