CAS(E) this Sketch #78

This is my second post for today. My CASE Study challenge post is HERE

I had been to a craft fair in Perth for the first time and picked up some Memory Box dies.  So when I checked the new sketch for CAS(E) this Sketch challenge, I was so happy because I can use one of dies I bought there. Here is my card.

Thanks for everything

I wanted some colours without patterns because I wanted the die and the sentiment to be highlight of the card. So i used distress ink to add colour to the card as well as to the die. Spatter of water added some texture. I layered some of the leaves and added bling. The sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The big, the bold and you stamp set. I really love the layered vine.  This card is made using Julie Day's new sketch from CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge Blog

This is our new sketch for you this week. Come and play along with us and have fun.

CASE Study #193

Darn! this is the last week with Wida's muse. I am lucky to play two of her muse as a designer. She is an amazing person and designer. Here is another of Wida's card  as the muse for this week's CASE Study Challenge.

Here is my take on the muse.

Birthday card

I never use these soft pastel colours on my own. So I decided to use them and also the layout of the card. But with different stamp sets and sentiment. I love the big Chrysanthemum stamp from Uniko Studio. I stamped it in gold. Then used the stamp set from Background Builder Circles from Uniko Studio to add interest on the background. I also added some gold spatter using Heidi Swapp Colour Wash Gold. The sentiment is from Fontiment Birthday also from Uniko Studio. Then I trimmed the panel and mounted at an angle on the blue card front. Finally add some sequins and some strip of gold glitter strip.

Dad you rock!

I am in the middle of catching up on design team projects and publication projects. I wanted a  break and play along a sketch challenge. I picked my favorite MFT sketch challenge to play. Here is this week's sketch.

MFTWSC177

And  here is my take on the sketch.

Dad you rock!

I have used a lot of My Favorite Things products on my card - stamp set, inks, cardstock and dies. I wanted something masculine, grungy yet colourful and fun. After lots of die cutting, sponging, stamping and assembling, I am very happy with the result.  Exactly what I wanted.

Happy happy happy birthday wishes

Hello my dear craft friends! Welcome back to my blog.

I am sharing a card today for i {heart} paper as guest designer.

Happy Birthday Wishes card

For this card, I have used the Happy Trio die from Wplus9 and die cut Happy in various colours. I have glued them on the card front.  Love the impact the big, bold and colourful Happys make on the card front. I have brushed the happys with Wink of Stella clear pen to give some shimmer. I have layered the pink happy over the black happy slightly offsetting to give shadow. I will be using this "happy" as my main sentiment and add to it the smaller stamped sentiment. The stamped sentiment is from Whole Lotta Happy also from Wplus9. I decided to do the inside of the card as well

From all of us inside

I die cut some balloon from the Whole Lotta Die which coordinates with Whole Lotta Happy Stamp set. I stamped the balloon with the heart confetti shapes from Borders and backgrounds #3 stamp set. I also stamped a rainbow of the heart confetti border on the bottom of the card inside. Then finally stamped the sentiment "from all of us" form Whole Lotta Happy stamp set. This completed the card. Hope you like it.

You can find all the products I have used in this card from i {heart} papers shop. Here is the list of products for you.

Thinking of you!

Hey everybody,

I have a card share today I made for Gallery Idol 2014 audition. The theme is to use washi tape in an innovative way. For past few days, this has been in my mind - first whether to participate next if I do wanted to, then what am I going to do with the washi tape? Finally after thinking long and hard and a little nudge from friends. I decided to participate. Here is my card for the Gallery Idol audition.

Happy Birthday lil' monster

I created a monster using washi tapes from my stash. Then added googly eyes to it. I trimmed the panel to mount at an angle on a black sparkly chevron background pattern paper. The stamped sentiment is from a Hero Arts monster stamp set. The die cut happy birthday is from Simon Says Stamp.

But guess what? I missed the deadline by 4 days. Duh! Thats OK! Maybe next year.  Atleast I am able to share my card with you :)

CAS(E) this Sketch #77

This is my second post for today. HERE is my CASE Study Challenge post.

I did some sponging using stencils today.
 Here is my card.

Hello Friend card

I have used distress inks -Spiced Marmalade and Festive Berries. I used the stencil from The Craft's Workshop, masked off the places where I don't want to sponge ink into. Then sponged Spiced Marmalade first and then Festive Berries as shading. Love the effect the shading gives. then sentiment is from Winnie & Walter The Big, the Bold and the happy stamp set. This is a one layer card except the stamped panel is mounted using foam adhesives.

For the layout of the card, I have used CAS(E) this Sketch #77.
This is the new sketch for you to play with. I designed this sketch.

CASE Study #192

Welcome to my first CASE Study Challenge as a designer.
Get ready for another gorgeous muse from Wida Miller!

I love how Wida has layered the embellishments on her card. So much texture, the gold, spatter are all gorgeous and perfectly placed. Love it. I took a similar but bold approach to make my card. Here it is:

Be happy Card

I pulled out my box of ready made embellishments which I haven't used in a while. I found some sticker pack which I though will be perfect. For the pattern paper, I used the pattern papers from Simon Says Stamp April Card Kit. The colour coordinated perfectly with the sticker pack. The black enamel dots are from Charmed collection from My Mind's Eye. I really love the layering of the stickers and bright and bold approach to the Wida's muse.

A bright and bold thinking of you shaker card.....

Hey everybody,

Sharing with you a shaker card today. I have used the Wplus9 Bird and Branches Frame die on my card. I first sponged distress inks on white cardstock. Then die cut the frame, added clear cardstock, added foam adhesives around the edges, added the most gorgeous sequins from Pretty Pink Posh inside before sealing the frame to the card front. I also die cut the birds using the sponged card stock and adhered to the card front. For the sentiment I have used wood veneer speech bubble. Stamping on wood veneer is tricky because ink bleed into the grains. So I brushed a thin layer of gesso. Once dry the surface becomes non porous as gesso is a primer. Stamping on gesso treated wood veneer give clean and crisp image. No bleeding at all. Here is my card.

Thinking of you card

The sequins I have used in my shaker box are from Pretty Pink Posh. Here are the colour.

Runaway Inspired #60

We have a new challenge for you at Runaway Inspired Challenge.

For this week's challenge, we have this fantastic jumper and skirt outfit.

I really like the colour combination of grey and soft pink with a pop of yellow from the cute dog?  So the colours inspired me the most. Here is my take based on the colours.

Sending Happy Thoughts card

I did watercolour wash on my background using distress inks -Tattered Rose, Worn Lipstick and Picked Raspberry. I did a very soft colour wash stripes blending the colours. For the grey bit I die cut palm die from Hero Arts in light and dark grey and layered to give a shadow effect. The butterflies are from the new Altenew stamp set called Ori Kami. I also coloured the butterflies using Mustard Sees distress ink and cut them out. The sentiment is from Sketchy Cities America which I stamped on a watercolour strip of paper colour washed with Worn Lipstick distress ink. I then made banner ends and adhered using foam adhesives. Finally I have added some 4mm Aquamarine and Sparkly Clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh as accents and Onyx 6mm sequins on the butterflies

Sending happy Thoughts

Celebrate this day - watercolour technique card

Hey everybody,
Sharing with you a card I made trying out freehand watercolour painting.

To be honest I did trace over the stamped image on vellum on to the cardstock to use as a guide. The stamped image is from Clearly Besotted stamp set called Happy Everything. The sentiment is from the new Super Script stamp set from Altenew. Here is my card.

Celebrate this day!

I tried my best to get some depth and shading on the flowers. Darn! it is hard because it is time consuming. I am not such a patient person. That is why my style is clean and simple :)  I think I like defined edges better than the softer blended edges of the image. So I stamped the image in Antique Linen distress ink after I finished my watercolouring and blended the edges a bit. I colour washed the background with blue. I finally added some shimmer with Wink of Stella pen.

I am not completely happy with the result. When I look at it it looks out of focus. Not just in the photo above but also in real.I don't know why it is happening?  Hey! I can now say I tried freehand watercolour technique - something out of my comfort zone lol!

Feel Better Soon

Sharing my third card as guest designer for i {heart} papers.

i {heart} papers

While I am in a mood for watercolouring, I made a card with watercoloured background and silhouette images. Here is my card.

Feel Better Soon

I have used watercolour paper and used distress inks to watercolour background. I did wet on wet technique which is basically sprayed my watercolour paper with water first then added Distress inks using watercolour brush and let them blend. I have used  Seedless Preserve, Picked Raspberry, Worn Lipstick and Festive Berries distress inks. You can use Distress Markers to do the same as well. After the first layer dries a little, I brushed these inks again using wet brush to get some layers. Once dry, I trimmed the watercolour paper. I then stamped the images from Botanicals 2 stamp set from Paper Smooches using black Memento ink. I also stamped the sentiment from Healthy Vibes stamp set also from Paper Smooches.  I then realised that something is not quite right if I place the watercolour panel on the card front. So I trimmed a 1/4" off and mounted using foam adhesives to the card front. I then added a black polka dot pattern paper from Kraft in Color - Color 6 x 6 paper pad. Finally added some white enamel dots to finish off my card.

I really love the layered watercolour with silhouette images. Here are the products I have used on my card. You can get them all at i {heart} paper shop. Click on the images to take you to the shop.
