New haircut

One more post today.I finally booked myself for my haircut which I have been contemplating over a few months now.Braved myself into the parlour. The lady was very nice and we chatted a lot and by the end of the session this is how I look....

Too short!!! Must not have chatted too much. I can't even make a ponytail. My DS could not even recognise me at school today. He just walked past me searching for me lol!!!! When I called him, he looked at me and said " What have you done mommy?" You look like a girl! That was a nice complement. lol!!! Aditi was very thrilled. My DH did not say anything. So I guess the style suits me. YAY!!!

I have some good news to share. Will post tomorrow.:)

Until then

Some Stampin' Up! OTPs share and a giveaway scrapbooking kit.

Morning everybody,

I have couple of Stampin' Up! OTPs to share. I am trying out various tings using Stamin' Up! products. Its fun.
I used scalloped circles and made Christmas Ornaments. I have used nestabilities scalloped dies 2 sizes to make these but Stampin' Up! scalloped punch should do the trick as well.

I have used Haiku papers for making it. But you could try this on traditional Christmas papers or any other designer papers you like.
Email me for the tutorial

Then I made this loot bag after reading a tutorial from one of the blogs. I can't remember which one as I was hopping from one blog to another. Then I found out there are various ways of making this bag. This is going to be taught in my first workshop.

Speaking of my first workshop. I have set the date as June 19th between 10.00am to 12.00noon. The theme is " Birthday". Its a make and take workshop. So it will be "All you need" for a birthday party. A card, Invite and loot bag. Its 15$ per person. Booking is essential as I can accommodate only 10 per workshop. If you are living in Kalgoorlie and close by contact me. I have advertised in the school newsletter. All ground work is done. Fingers crossed and waiting for the response.
Wish me luck:)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

Now, I also have a giveaway for the blog.
Not Stampin' Up! products but a scrapbooking kit.
Its going to be for one of my followers randomly selected after I reach about 30 followers.
I have 28 followers currently. So 2 more followers to go and then the draw.
So hurry up and follow my blog:)
Here is the kit.

WOW!!! who wouldn't like Basic Grey. And Prima flowers and leaves.
And Tim Holtz's grunger board elements. And coordinated cardstocks and embellishemnts.
You got to be in to win.

Some rambling and stampin' Up! cards

Morning everybody,

Its cold day here for me. Gloomy, about to rain anytime. Back home after the after children's music lessons. Siddarth is playing so well. Love his spontaneity. Except for his singing, his guitar is going really well. Proud of him. He is not fond of singing and often laughs when ask to hum or sing. But after watching the Eurovision where most of the singers were males, he is coming out of his cocoon. I am so glad.
Aditi on the other hand is going directly to grade 1 piano. No problems with her except the "Ummm Ummm" when answering to her listening tests. Do all the 7 year old say that? I am getting a bit frustrated with her "Ummms" . Not that she doesn't know the answer, but she drags it for long. And time is a major factor as well in test.Anyway, I have to get her to answer quickly and precisely. It is a hard task but we will get there :)

Now enough of my rambling. I have some cards I made using Stampin' Up products.
These are simple and easy to make ones.

Materials used for these cards are:

1.Creamy Caramel, Really Rust, Summer sun and Old Olive card stocks from Stampin' Up!
2. Scalloped punch from Stampin' Up!
3. Taffeta Chocolate chip ribbon from Stampin' Up!
4. Circle punches
5.Haiku designer paper from Stampin' Up!
6. Best Yet stamps from Stampin' Up!
7. Circle Circus stamps from Stampin' Up!

Hope you like it. If any of you want to buy Stampin' Up! stamps, you can contact me.I can deliver the stamps to your door.

Week 3 DT challenges at Artypants

Good morning everybody,

It feel like its been long since I post on my blog but actually its only 2 days ago I did that tutorial. I have been busy as usual with kids and I am now baby sitting a bird again!!! Moreover, I am not feeling well. Looks like I have flu. fatigue, body aches, bitter taste in the mouth.... Thankfully I took my flu shot earlier this month.
So its not very severe. Thats good:)

I have also been wondering about the weather now a days. Victoria had massive bush fire in summer and now Queensland has floods. It rained cats and dogs in one day. Apparently they received the entire year's rainfall in one day. Wow!!! thats amazing. And more importantly the drought is over. Dams are over flowing.Well, we in Western Australia would like some rain as well. Been dry for a month now. Sort of drizzled last night. Not enough though!

OK, I have also been busy scrapping. Yes, for the last of Artypants DT challenge.
This week the challenge is make up a kit for 15.00$ and make a layout using the kit.

Here is my kit

It has 2 cardstock-0.50c each= 1.00$
4 half sheet of Basic Grey Wisteria pattern paper-0.75c each = 3.00$
Half of BG alpha sticker= 2.60$
The Bambi chipboard-=- 2.75$
The grungeboard = 2.00$
The other stuff I have included in the kit are Kaisercraft 4 brads from Reminicing range. 3 buttons, 2 flowers from Green Tara, 1 from Prima and one handmade flower. One lace and doiley, a piece of BG Wisteria sticker and BG Granola rubon. All these I have estimated to be about 4.00$
The total comes to a little more than 15.00$ but good value for money.

I managed to make a layout and card out of the kit and I still have some papers leftover for a card or a negative space layout.

Here is my layout

Here is my card

The next challenge is the bonus challenge.
Here we have to do layout with step by step instructions.

The step by step for this layout can be found here.

It was fun doing all these challenges.
Unfortunately they have come to an end.
Result of the DT comp will be announced next week.
Can't wait to find out who wins :)

I have a couple of cards to show and also made some Christmas ornaments using Stampin' Up! designer papers. Will blog all of them tomorrow:)

until then....

Stampin’ Up! Card --- Tutorial using Brayer

I had promised earlier in one of my post that I will do a tutorial using the brayer.
And some of you had asked me what is brayer technique.
So, I thought I will do the tutorial today of this card below.

Materials needed for this card are:
1. Very Vanilla, Olive green and Chocolate Chip card stocks from Stampin' Up!
2. Always and Pocket Silhouette stamp sets from Stampin' Up!
3. Brayer, circle punch and a sponge
4. Tim Holtz's Brushed Corduroy and Spiced marmalade distress inks
5. Stampin' Up! Pumpkin Pie ink pad and Staz on Black ink pad.

Here is the tutorial

Step #1

I am using a 11 x 9 cm piece of Very vanilla cardstock here. And I am using the brayer and Tim Holtz’s Spiced Marmalade distress ink as the first coat on the entire piece.

Step #2

I punched out a small circle out of a scrap paper and temporarily stuck it in the centre of the paper.

Step #3

I used Stampin’ Up! Pumpkin Pie ink on the brayer and brayered it on top of the circle on the entire piece of paper for extra depth and colour as shown in the picture.

Step #4

I have sponged Tim Holtz’s Brushed Corduroy around the corners of the paper as shown in the picture.

Step #5

I removed the circle from the middle and replaced it with a circle punched out of a Yellow pattern paper and inked around the edges with orange ink.

Step #6

I have used stamps from Stampin’ Up! Always and Pocket Silhouettes stamp sets and stamped using Stazon ink as shown in the picture below.

Step#7

I then matted this piece on an Olive green cardstock and mounted it again on the Chocolate Chip color card as shown in the picture below.

I have no personalised it yet. I will do it when I need to.

Hope you enjoyed the tutorial and for specially people who asked what Brayer technique is.

I am still singing....

Yes, I am still singing "I'm in looove with a fairytale" Love the song. Brilliant number. Simple, catchy and Alexander from Norway is a sweetheart. He played his violin so beautifully.I could not get the song out of my mind. Still humming lol!!!!
Oh! I am talking about Eurovision. I normally do not watch it intensely but this time since my children are learning music, we sat and watched all of it. All the finalist songs were awesome. "Is it true?" from Iceland was so beautifully sung by Yohana, it brought tears to my eyes. "What if we" from Malta was also good. Loved the song from Estonia as well. They were all well sung. Some other number were catchy and costumes and backdrops were gorgeous. Loved it.Wish I had the CD/DVD of the Eurovision 09.
Norway won the Eurovision 09 contest extravaganza.
CONGRATS NORWAY !

No scrapbooking to share today.
I am also busy getting rid of unwanted things around the house. OMG!!!, I have collected so many junk stuff. House is becoming cluttered. We are also moving into a bigger house in couple of months time. So I want to take only the essentials. I am sorting things out and getting them to Salvation Army.
Hopefully I will have time to make a layout tonight to share.
Until then

Faraway!

I really feel that way today. Lost in thought, preoccupied with several things.I have been just pacing inside the house since morning. Finally I sat down and wanted to scrap just to get my mind away from everything else I have been thinking about. Then I received my prize pack from Lisa K and it motivated me to do this layout.

I made this layout for Chris W's challenge at Debscreations
and bonus challenge for DT at Artypants.
I used the emotion I was going through ATM as inspiration for this layout. I stamped Prima dots stamp on BG two scoops paper using Stampin' Up! quite old navy ink. The other paper is from Hambly print. Flowers from Prima, Scrapbook blossom and Green Tara.Heidi Swapp Stamp, Prima bling, BG tag, lace and blue thread given to me by ChrisW. The metal "G" and feathers from the prize pack LisaK sent, the stamped watch image from a stamp swapp and alphas from Pink Paislee.

I hope my day brightens as it progresses. Or maybe a 20 minute nap will really help!!!
