Hero Arts January Challenge!

Hey Friends,

Sharing a card I made for Hero Arts January Challenge.
Here are the details of the challenge:

January Challenge: Create a NEW stamped project based on any of the following…
  • Try Something New — A new year is the perfect time to try something new! A new technique, new color combination, new stamp, new inkpad, new embellishment…anything new to YOU!
  • ATCs (Artist Trading Cards) — Miniature works of art created on a 2. 5″ x 3. 5″ base. Any theme goes! Be sure to check out Shari Carroll’s January technique article and video on ATCs.
  • Create a project using 3-4 colors from the palette below, inspired by our new Just Beachy ink cube pack. Color names are provided for reference but feel free to substitute similar shades.

I went with trying a new technique with a new stamp set that had arrived over Christmas.
Here is my card for the challenge.

I have used the new chalkboard art technique. I had chalkboard stickers from Pink Paislee for a while in my stash. I used them because they were beautifully shaped. I white embossed the sentiment from Lowercase Greetings Christmas 2012 stamp set. Then stamped the stars from Monster stamp set. I also sponged some white chalk ink and added some lines using white pencil. I was not very fussy about the white embossing being neat because the scatter of white embossing powder adds to the used chalkboard look. Love this technique.

I then stamped Plano Stamp on the card front using blue ink, spattered and sprayed green Huey Mist. Foam mounted the chalkboard sticker. Inked the wood veneer arrows from Studio Calico with blue ink and adhered them. For some contrast, I have added some pink enamel dots. These enamel dots are my favourite at the moment. Here are some closeups for you.

I really love how this card turned out. Never planned anything for this card in advance. All I wanted is to try chalkboard technique. Hope you like it too:)

Thanks for visiting. Have a great weekend!

Hugs!
