Yay!! Photo to sketch using photoshop

I have been playing with photo shop yesterday and I must say, I am hooked to it.
Last night, I sat on it until 1.00am and my husband had to drag me to sleep
because I have guest coming for lunch today!!!lol!!!
I woke up early today and been cooking since then.
But I got a little rest and so sat down to blog the edited photos.

This is the recent photo of my kids. I wanted to convert it into sketch and add a border.
I am so used to making layouts from sketch and I wanted to reverse the process.
Here is the result.
I love it.. Very cool!!!

I will start using photo shop more often now that I am comfortable using it and got over the initial fear. Its awesome, just that I will need more time or organise my day better!!

Today is a busy day for me with guests at home and heavy cooking Indian food. School starts on Monday Yay!!! I am so looking forward to it and so are my kids!!

Got to go, another dish and cleaning left.
Will put up today's menu later.

Have a great weekend

This is the Thursday card sketch at Tamara's Sketch blog
I discovered this awesome blog for challenges and sketches recently.
Each day there is a different challenge. Love it.

And this is my take on the card sketch.
I have used cuttle bug and embossed the white card stock
and also the pram stamp piece is also cut and embossed using cuttle bug.
I normally go for brights but I made this for my brother and SIL,
who is expecting a baby in April this year. I am pleased with the outcome.

A sketch, a layout and an award!

I know I told you I will upload layouts tomorrow.
But I also told you that I am scrapbooking with my friend.
So I actually completed a layout for stucksketches.
I thought I will blog it.
And here it is:

Another week and another sketch from stuck sketches blog.

I have used K & Co Blue awning paper as the base.

The papers I have used for the layers are from Cosmo Cricket.Flowers from Heidi Swapp.

Metal embellishments from my stash and Keyhole cutout from Vintage Art blog.

7 Gypsies journaling card, diecuts from SEI, bling from Prima Say it in Crystals.

Title alphas from Bella Chipboard.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received this Butterfly award from Sharon Dalton.

Thanks so much Sharon. Very sweet of you.

I will have to postpond passing this award at this moment.

Beautiful day......

Its a beautiful day today.

Not in the sense of fine day with plenty of sunshine and pleasant cool weather

but a nice cloudy and rainy day.

I love warm cloudy and rainy days in summer especially after a hot spell!!

All the trees looks gorgeous and completely soaked.

Love how the bark becomes dark and leaves get washed and

become shiny with little drops of rain water still dripping.

Red soil is nice and wet adds superb contrast to the green trees.

Little puddle of water here and there.

Calm streets, traffic is less, people are driving slow....

Love it Love it!!!

There is still some thunder and lightening and it pours and stops and then pours.

I am sitting near the window and watching the rain, with a cup of hot tea.

What could be better?

I was disappointed yesterday. Had applied for a DT position but did not get it.

I was so hopeful of getting it and.....Anyway, its like pouring cold water on hot metal.

It only make the metal stronger and not destroy it!!!

My friend Sharon has passed on an award for my blog. I will load it later today,

Thanks Sharon, very sweet of you.

No layouts today as I am going to have a lovely time scrapping and chatting

with my friend Tracey this afternoon.

I promise there will be some photos and layouts tomorrow.

I am off to the gym to workout.

I have also organised for next week, school starts, I restart work.

But I have rescheduled my work timings

so that I get 2 days completely off to workout and organise the house as well.

Have put on some weight over the holidays and is slowing me down.

Moreover, my sugar levels have gone up!!

Obesity is not a good thing with a strong family history of diabetes,is it?

So no snacks and workout to get back my energy and maintain my ideal weight!

Got to go, kids are all ready to leave for their music lessons.

Drop them off and I am off to workout Yay!!!

Catch you all later.

Feels so much better after a month of hot spell!!!

Garden is getting a nice soak. Veggie patch is looking good.

Kids are happy playing in the rain and making dams and waterways.....

I get to sit by myself and hop from one blog to another.Hehehe!!

Tomorrow is a big day. My friend Tracey is coming over

and we are going to scrap in the afternoon Yay!!

I have to tidy the house tonight.

And OH! I have some more books to cover.

Let me start right now, since I have some time.

Before I go, here are some photos I took yesterday.

Crazy for !!!!!!

Sketch 71# from stucksketches is an awesome sketch.
Love the layers in the sketch. Perfect for a boy's layout.
I have this Cosmo Cricket papers in my stash for sometime now.
Wanted to scrap it and this sketch will be perfect for the dark distressed papers.
They will give so much depth to the layout.

Here is my take on the sketch.

I have used Cosmo Cricket Fleuriste Maize paper as the base.
I loved the texture effect it has along with the distresed edges.
The papers I have used for the layers are also from Cosmo Cricket--Primrose and Cobblestone, and from American Traditional Designs-- Coffee Botanical paper.
All these papers are distressed on the edges and inked using Black versa Color ink.
All chipboard embellishments are from A-Z scraplets.
All inked with Tim Holtz's distress inks.
I have also used a Indian Jones movie ticket and a Stawars logo as embellishments.
Dymo for journalling and American Craft Thickers for the title.

Here is a closeup of the chipboard embellishments.

I have recieved my DT pack from Deb and can't wait to start on it.
OOOooo!! it will be my weekend project. Excited and thrilled!!!!

This is so funny, Deb was asking me this morning whether I received the pack and I was telling her that I am still stalking my postie!!! He is sure to take things differently as I am constantly looking out of the window and have a big sheepish grin when he brings the parcels!!
Everything was similar today except that the postie was a female!!!
I could not stop giggling!! She would have thought whats wrong with this girl!!!
lol! lol!lol!
Have a great weekend

Black and White photo....

I took this photo from inside the car while my DH was driving.
These are few scattered clouds.
I converted the photo into black and white and played a bit with the shadow and brightness.
I love the effect. I like to play with the photoshop software a bit.
I like the outcome but it is too time consuming for me.
I will limit with just editing the photos.

No layouts today. Was not a good day for me.
Dehydrated and fatigued due to heat. Hope tomorrow is a better day.
Off to bed. Goodnight everybody

I love sketches......

Yeah, I love sketches.
The main reason being, it gives me a rough idea what to do and saves time.
I usually take printouts of the sketches I like
and yesterday, I bought a folder and sleeves (from back to school sale lol!!)
and arranged all the sketches.
Feels so nice to organise things.
Today it is going to be stamps, which needs sorting out.
Once I finish I will put pictures of them.

Ok, This sketch is from stucksketches blog.
Every week Sara puts up a sketch and anyone can make a layout using the sketch
and email it to her.
She has a reader's gallery and towards the end of the month there is a prize for a winner!
Give it a go.

This is my take on the sketch.
I had these pictures of my DH playing "Need for speed"
and he looked so excited and I could see his inner child coming out.
He is a cautious driver. This is because he has treated many kids with car accidents in ICU.
But when he plays need for speed, the joy of driving fast cars is just..............
We know!! We know!!!

Anyway, coming to the materials used.
I have used Basic Grey Granola papers in this layout
and a piece of Basic Grey Stella Ruby paper.
Some brown cardstock to matt the photos.
Chipboard embellishments from A-Z scraplets, some inked with Bella inks,
the star brightened using Kindy Glitz Aqua.
The jute is from Rivers tag ties.Alphas alos from Basic Grey granola range.

Here are some closeups:

Besties....

Well, I made this layout this morning for Stephanie's challenge at Debs.
The rules for the challenge are:
The theme of this challenge is Friendship.
The page must inlcude a photo (any size) of a great friend (it can be a family member or a pet if you like). You can be in the photo.
Make the page as if you are giving it to the friend to tell them just what they mean to you (even if you are keeping it).
You MUST include lots of journalling with at least some (if not all) hand journalling!!I would love to see a stamped title or maybe some stamped journalling.
The base paper is from Making Memories.
I have cut the photo into a long rectangle cropping the unwanted background.
I have mounted the photo on a 7 gypsies overlay.
The cutouts are from Kaisercraft Bohemian Thread papers.
I decorated them with fern leaves, Green Tara and Prima flowers,
Kaisercraft Pearls and Kaisercraft corner bling.
The ribbon is from my stash.
The star blings is what Lexie sent me in the RAK
I have used alpha stamps for the title and brackets and little people are chipboards.
Brackets are painted with Kindly Glitz Aqua and the people are inked using
Tim Holtz's Distress ink.
I hand wrote the journalling as Aditi told me.
