Pretty in pink!

I made a very pretty pink card for two challenges. Pink is not my color. I think, its because of my daughter. Until two years ago she was a pink girl. Everything in her room will be pink from toys to linen and clothes. I was so full of seeing pink that I started to consciously avoid pink. Even not drink strawberry milkshake because its pink in color. So this week's challenge by Just Add Ink was a challenge for me. The challenge is Just Add Pink and Bling. This challenge is to promote breast cancer awareness. To make this card, I have used Makeesha's sketch from this week. So here is the sketch.

Here is my take on both the challenges :)
SOLD
I have used Wedding Sweet and En francis stamp sets from SU. I love Wedding Sweet stamp set especially the font of the sentiments are gorgeeous. Bling is added using rhinestones and shiny pink satin ribbon. I went monochromatic just to challenge myself. What do you think? Too much pink or not?.....
After a long time I got to play Makeesha's challenge.Nice sketch, Thanks!  Pink and Bling for promoting a good cause, thanks for that, JAI!
I had a great lunch at my friend's house. I am sleepy. Need to have a cat nap.
Have a great week end!
Cheers!

Inkspiration Inspiration Challenge #17

Hi everybody,

Makeesha's Inkspiration inspiration challenge #17 is a bit of a challenge for me!  Earthy colors are my favourate but it just did not come to me today! Maybe my mojo for earthy colors have left me today. But, I do not like to leave half done card and come back to it later.I wanted to complete it and I did. Here is the inspiration picture.

I liked the twigs and the rustic brown against the white in the picture. So I tried to recreate that on my card.
Here is my card.

I brought the twigs into the card through the chip board which is inked in brown colors. Similarly the music paper is inked with brown colors and the edges are ripped. This brought that warm rustic feeling, I think! More country like? Infact, I have used cardstock from the "naturals" pack from Stampin' Up! Anyway, I like the end result. Thanks for another challenge. And thanks for stopping by

Inkspiration Color Challenge #17

Hi everybody,

I was so glad to see Makeesha's Inkspiration color challenge on her blog. This is the first challenge for this year. Here are the colors for the challenge

Mmmmm!, these are colors I will use in different combinations. I like to use So Saffron, Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla together. Similarly, Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla and Cameo Coral together. It was a challenge for me to use So Saffron and Cameo Coral together with Chocolate Chip and Very Vanilla. A lot of thought went into it. But then, I took out the cardstocks and laid it on the table and I felt it was not so bad as I had thought! So this is what I came up with. I am pretty happy with it.

The flowers I made using some old music sheets I had in my stash. I punch some scalloped circles out of them, inked the edges, adhered 6 layers (for one flower) using a brad, scrunched each layer except the last one. I then opened the layers and added a button in the centre. Dawn Mcvey has a tutorial on her blog. Aren't the flowers beautiful? I love them.
Petal Pizzaz was my first stamp set I bought with the starter kit. I haven't used them in a long time. Time had come to pull the set out and I used the leaf from the set for this card. The leaves are heat embossed with clear embossing powder on chocolate chip ink. Felt a bit weird stamping chocolate chip color leaves. But it looks nice on the card.Sentiment is from Sweet Little Sentiment hostess set.
Thanks for the color challenge. I enjoyed making this card.
Have a great weekend

Makeesha's Inkspiration challenge #16

Morning everybody,

Its the time of the year where everyday is madly busy. So many concerts for kids, parties to attend, home parties to organise. I feel like I am living in Woolworths! I am having so many things to buy and to buy frequently too.I wanted a break from all this running around. I intentionally dropped everything and sat down to make a card.
Makeesha's Inkspiration challenge was the first to catch my eye. Here is her Inkspiration picture

Loved the colors. Very girlish. Love the hearts in the picture. I had my Hearts stamp set from Stampin' Up! Summer mini and the punch as well. Soooo wanted to use them both. Now that I got the chance to use them. I made this card for the challenge.

This is the inside of the card

Love this set and the coordinating punch. One of my favourates.
Thanks for an awesome challenge once again.

My children are having their school end of the year concert. One is a cat and the other is a lion! I am going to take my SLR with the tripod. Will see if I can take some good photos. My husband has bought a fancy flash as well. So hoping the photos will some out well. I will share some if they turn out well.

Now I need to straighten my hair and try out curls. Funny that I have a wavy hair, which I have to straighten and then curl. Ha! I am good at straightening but first time trying out curling with a straighter. Fingers crossed!
See you tomorrow with some photos and the story of how my hair turned out. lol!

Makeesha Color challenge #14

Morning everybody,

Monday morning. Back to the regular routine. Its was a nice weekend. Saturday was our Indian festival Diwali. So we had special dinner with friends. It was fun and good special festival food. Sunday was all rest day and catching up with family over Skype. Should say the Summer is here. Atleast in Kalgoorlie. It was 35 degree C yesterday. Wow! the heat was just too much. Today is not too bad compared to yesterday. Its going to be 28 but cloudy.I guess the weather is giving us a sneak peek of what we are going to experience in India from next week. lol!!! Just add the humidity to the heat!!!!! I hate the humidity. But will bear it for 4 weeks.I am missing family a lot.
Anyway, I did Makeesha's color challenge #14. I liked the color combo as there was a lot of neutrals and a lovely mild pink. Here are the colors.

And here is my take on the challenge. Its a simple and clean card once again.

(Click on the photo for larger view)

All products are from Stampin' up! expect the pearls which is from Kaisercraft. It took me just 15 minutes to make and I loved the color combination. Thanks for another awesome color combo Makeesha. Can't wait to see you and say hello at the regionals in Perth.Hope you are coming. Looking forward to see all excellent stampers whos blogs I have been visiting. It would be nice to connect the names and their faces in person.I am excited.

I have completed all my swaps and will load all the photos and schedule them to be published on friday, saturday and sunday this week. Thats the beauty of blogs. Write up, load the photos and set the time and date for them to be published. Even though I will not be able to access internet until I reach India, my blog will still publish new post. Love technology.

I have to go now. Get the house in order and do some ironing.
Have a great day everybody
