Perth Regionals Swap 4

Hi everybody,

My last scheduled post showcasing my final cardfronts I made for the Perth regionals.

Here is the final set

Again nothing fancy. Simple white embossing of Lovely as a Tree and Occassional Greetings on a curly die cut Sand Sahara cardstock, layered on Certainly Celery and on Riding Hood Red. Love white on Sand Sahara. Sand Sahara card stock is my second favourate next to Kraft cardstock for stamping and/or embossing using white craft ink. Love the effect.

I am now in India. I am enjoying my holidays. When I get time I will try and load photos.
Have a great day

Perth Regionals Swap 3

Morning everybody,

How are you all? I think I should be tired by now. I should be on my second flight heading to India at the moment. This is a scheduled post to show my third set of cardfronts I made for the swap.
Its a bit different style for me but I like these very much.

And here is a card made using a similar cardfront and come cyrstal effects.

I love the use of white card ink on the kraft cardstock. Subtle and pretty.
I have used Fresh cuts and Dream dr jour stamp sets, 3 heart punch, Bella Rose DSP, Designer paper II, Chocolate chip, Pink Pirouette, So saffron and Kraft cardstocks.
Will definitely be using more of soft subtle colors and white caft ink on Kraft cardstock.

Alright see you tomorrow for more. Hopefully I will have access to internet. But I am sure I will not be able to load photos into my blog as internet in India is usually slow and I will be super busy with meeting family and friends. So it will be a scheduled post again showing my fourth set.

Have a great day

Perth regionals swap 2

Morning everybody,

I am on the flight to KL at the moment. Probably sketching some card sketches on my book.
But I scheduled to show my second set of cardfronts I made for the Perth regionals.

Here they are:

I worked on the kraft cardstock using Fifth Avenue stamp set and different colors. The colors I have used here are Pink Passion, Pacific Blue, Night of Navy, Pumpkin Pie,Whisper White craft ink, Kiwi Kiss and Tangerine Tango. Both ink pads and cardstock. I have also used Dreams de Jour stamp cut out and mounted on the corresponding color scalloped square.I have also sponged the edges of the kraft cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink. Mounted them on the corresponding cardstock. There is one card made using the cardfront inside the cellophone cover. Clean and simple cards- my favourate flavour at the moment.Hope you like it.

See you tomorrow with another set. Until then, have a great weekend.

Perth regionals swap

Hey everybody,

Good morning. Its Saturday and I am attending the Perth regionals. So this post is scheduled to publish today. That option is available in blogger and I am using it for the first time.
By now, I must be at the Perth convention centre meeting up with other Stampin' Up! demonstrators and doing the swap. I did some 40 card fronts.
Here is the first set I made. These are simple and clean cardfronts just highlighting the color combination.

Here is the close up of the card front.

I have used Flight of the butterfly stamp set on Pumpkin Pie and Pink Passion inks. And also regal rose 5/8" grosgrain ribbon and a punched out tiny butterfly mounted on dimensionals for added interest and texture.

Tomorrow there is another set of cardfronts in the post. Don't miss it.

Have a great day. I know I will!

Watering Can

Hello everybody,

I was packing and taking print outs of the tickets when I got Splitcoast Stampers newsletter and there was the tutorial on Watering can. Here is where you find the tutorial.
I couldn't resist and so I made one too. During the process I also learned how to set my printer to print on my cardstock. I had been trying to do it for a long long time. Wasted some time googling. But accidently I  found out the setting. Wow! what a great feeling. Felt like I had achieved something great lol!!!
Without any delay here are the pictures

Hehe!!! same watering can on different angles (atleast I think I did lol!). By the time, I printed the template out on the cardstock, there were some ink marks from the printer on the cardstock. So I printed out the template on Bella Rose DSP, cut it out and pasted on  top to hide the inkmarks. I also sponged the edges using black ink. Ooo!!! I liked how it turned out. Love it. Thanks for the tutorial Helli!

OK, I have to go pick kids from school. It time already!
You have a great day

Makeesha Color challenge #14

Morning everybody,

Monday morning. Back to the regular routine. Its was a nice weekend. Saturday was our Indian festival Diwali. So we had special dinner with friends. It was fun and good special festival food. Sunday was all rest day and catching up with family over Skype. Should say the Summer is here. Atleast in Kalgoorlie. It was 35 degree C yesterday. Wow! the heat was just too much. Today is not too bad compared to yesterday. Its going to be 28 but cloudy.I guess the weather is giving us a sneak peek of what we are going to experience in India from next week. lol!!! Just add the humidity to the heat!!!!! I hate the humidity. But will bear it for 4 weeks.I am missing family a lot.
Anyway, I did Makeesha's color challenge #14. I liked the color combo as there was a lot of neutrals and a lovely mild pink. Here are the colors.

And here is my take on the challenge. Its a simple and clean card once again.

All products are from Stampin' up! expect the pearls which is from Kaisercraft. It took me just 15 minutes to make and I loved the color combination. Thanks for another awesome color combo Makeesha. Can't wait to see you and say hello at the regionals in Perth.Hope you are coming. Looking forward to see all excellent stampers whos blogs I have been visiting. It would be nice to connect the names and their faces in person.I am excited.

I have completed all my swaps and will load all the photos and schedule them to be published on friday, saturday and sunday this week. Thats the beauty of blogs. Write up, load the photos and set the time and date for them to be published. Even though I will not be able to access internet until I reach India, my blog will still publish new post. Love technology.

I have to go now. Get the house in order and do some ironing.
Have a great day everybody

Simple and clean cards

Hey everybody,

I had recently bought some Kaisercraft Q2 Christmas papers and coordinating brads, rubons and stamps. Loved them. When I hop blogs for inspiration, I bookmark if I find something very interesting and would like to make them.
One of the recent card set I saved was from Kristina Werner's Holiday card set from MACM Videos. They were simple, clean and awesome.I decided to use the Kaisercraft Christmas stuff to make similar cards.

Here is my version.

Hey everybody,

Nice day outside and I am free of my Migraine. I think I took the brufen a tad bit late. It just carried on until last night and this morning, it is like ta... da... I am fresh and free of migraine.Feels very nice. Now I have heaps of work to do. All saved up from yesterday. But I do like the calmness around me at the moment. I have the online radio on at the background and no other chatter around me. I am enjoying it too.
Since I am far away from my home, it hard to keep up with the music, fashion and other cultural things going on in India. The internet is an awesome way to keep up. I hear all the latest bollywood songs on the online radio and enjoy some old melodies as well.We bought this Magic Sing karoke set where there are good Hindi and Tamil songs to sing along with an awesome collection of English songs. My husband and myself enjoy singing together. lol! Much to kids annoyance. So much fun when its our bad singing which annoys the kids. lol!!!
I miss the glam and glitter of Indian dresses. Today, I am going to open up my suitcases with saries and salwaars and probably try and wear them. Saries need constant refolding as silk saries will tear on the fold crease. It will bring back some memories of my collage days and festive days. Glad I am going to India for a holiday soon.

As I had told you previously that I am doing a project on a sketch book to take along with me.
The inspiration came from Kristina Werner's card sketchbook.
Here is the finished Sketch book

The templates for the pages can be downloaded from her blog as well.
I can now take this and draw sketches while I am sitting on the plane and getting bored and anxious.

To dress the book, I have used Kraft cardstock, Chocolate chip cardstock, Bling brads, ribbons and Parisian Breeze DSP from Stampin' Up! Cardstock alpha stickers and corner black bling.

Now all I have to do is fill it up with sketches.I think I should really get up and do the chores. Its already 11.00am. OK see you all.
Have a nice day!

Makeesha's Sketch Challenge #14

Hello everybody,

I am so glad the school has reopened. Both Siddarth and Aditi were happy to get back into the routine. Sid was excited because he has a new teacher for this term. He wanted to see her. She is a young graduate and first time teacher. So can't wait to hear all about her when he comes back home in the afternoon. Aditi wanted to enquire about her teacher's holiday in Vietnam!. She was worried when she saw floods and storms out there. So there will be some interesting news from her as well.

I came home and sorted things out and sat to make some cards for couple of sketch challenges.
Although I completed them and now blogged them as well, I am starting to have Migraine. Feels weird when I look outside (its bright outside), giddy, nausea started, head is starting to ache. I have popped a brufen and hoping now that I will get better. All I have to do now is quickly finish blogging and off to bed with eyes closed.

Ok quickly,here is Makeesha's sketch.

And here is my take on the sketch.

A few things I did differently on this card. I combined dazzling diamonds with clear embossing powder and heat embossed the the kindered Spirit sprig image. I used a butterfly punch to punch out Real red cardstock butterflies and attached mini Old olive brad on them. The heart is from the 3 heart punch, which is inked with Riding Hood Red and covered with crystal effect.

CS: Real Red and Very Vanilla
DSP: Haiku
Stamp Sets: Great Friend and Kindered Spirits
Inks: Garden Green and Riding Hood Red
Accessories: Twine, heat gun, dazzling diamonds, clear embossing powder, butterfly punch, 3 heart punch, crystal effects and mini brads.

Now to the Elite sketch challenge for this month.
here is the sneak peek

Check out the full card here and other inspirational cards from other Stampin' Up! demonstrators as well.

Take care. See you later

Gift card holder

Hey everybody,

Today has been very hot here in Kalgoorlie. Its been 34 degrees C. Wow!!!! whats happening to the weather I don't understand. Last evening, we had bad storms with lots of wild winds, lightening and loud thunder. No electricity for atleast half an hour.We had candle lit dinner last night.lol!
Last week this time was extremely cold, the max was only 17 degrees C. Its driving me crazy!!! I don't know if I have to put the warm clothes inside and take out  summer clothes or just leave it ATM! Tomorrow its going to be chilly with a max of 18 degrees C. I don't like it one bit. But its better than whats happening in Japan, Indonesia or in the pacific islands. I do not want earthquakes or typhoons or tsunami!!! One thing is sure, global warming is definitely happening!!!

OK, I have been busy getting my swaps done for the regionals at Perth on the 24th of October. I decided to make atleast 40 card fronts. And I must be crazy, I have done 4 designs. So 10 card fronts of each design.
I got carried away I think!. I will post the picture closer to the regional date. All the 4 designs are very unlike me but I like them.

I also went to visit my friend who recently had second set of twins. Yup, the first set is only 15 months old.The first set is one boy and one girl and the second set is fraternal twins too but both girls. So cute. So cute. I should say it twice. I started getting clucky!!!! lol!!!I can't believe myself. Just beautiful babies. I did not want to buy them clothes. Thought gift card is the best as the parents can buy what they want. So I quickly wipped up this from Nicole's blog. It was very easy to make.
Here is the gift card holder. Sorry for the bad photos. I was in a hurry.

Since I had to make it like in 15 minutes, I did not do anything fancy but there will definitely be another one soon.Since I am going away soon, I am making another project using Kristina W's idea of a sketch book. Flying for 8 hours is boring especially in a budget airline. And I HATE FLYING because I am scared of heights. I said it OMG! So I thought I will make this book and draw sketches. I will post the pictures as soon as I finish.

School reopens on Monday! Kids are happy to go back. They had good time bush walking, swimming, scooter riding and watching two movies- "Up"! and "G force"! Liked "G force" but "Up"! was a bit irritating with the little boy talking all the time. Although all graphics and everything else were good. On the whole this school holidays were pretty good. Now in a week's time, we are off again for a month. Can't wait to see my parents and my new niece too.

OK! I am yapping too much today.I need water now. Too hot!!!!
Will not bore you anymore.
Have a great weekend.

WCMD Challenge #2: Mexico

Hey everybody,

This is going to be a quick post.
This is challenge #2: Mexico

And here my take on the challenge.

I have used the stamp from Baroque Motifs stamp set on Riding hood red, Not quite navy, Kiwi Kiss and Pumpkin Pie ink and heat embossed using clear embosing powder. I have used the square punch to punch them out as tiles and matted them on their respective color cardstock and mixed the colors of the brads for the center. This is my interpretation of Mexician tiles. I like the simplicity of the card. Did not customise as I will do when I need them.
Thanks for all the challenges, Nicole.

Hugs

WCMD Challenge #4: Australia

Hey everybody,

Challenge #4: Australia.

Australia is my home. Love it to bits.Beautiful place. Warm and friendly people.
Aborginal art is amazing. Very intricate and beautiful.
My first lot of stamps I got from Stampin' Up! was the All Aboriginal stamp set. Love the set.
I have used this set to make an aborignal picture for my card. I heat embossed the lizard stamp using black embossing powder and then rubbed the brown red color ink over the paper (emboss resist technique) and drew around the lizards using white gel pen and some traditional aboriginal marker pens from Stampin' Up!
Here is card for you:

Thanks for an awesome challenge once again Nicole.
One more to go. Mexico.
Hope I will get it done soon.

WCMD Challenge #1: Japan

 Challenge #1: Japan

Here is my take on Japan

I wanted to bring out the elegance of Japanese traditional women, cherry blossoms and the color red!I don't know why I relate the color red with Japan more than China! But I do for some weird reason!!! So here is my interpretation on Japan on my card. I again dry embossed using cuttlebug embossing folder but I brayered the color red on the negative side of the folder and embossed the white cardstock. I like the outcome. thats excatly what I wanted. I decorated the eyes of the birds with red pearls and the end of the swirls with black rhinestones.I have used the velvet black ribbon on the bottom and decorated it with a large red pearl.I have not yet customised the card. Will do when I need to. I like  the elegance of the card. Hope you do too!

Thanks again, Nicole. Off to do Australia, land of sunshine and kangaroos.
