Mojo Monday #119

Morning everybody,

I am sad. Why? My postman did not bring any parcel yesterday. Infact the only post he left was not mine either. It was for another person in another address! I am hoping he gets my parcels today atleast.

OK,my post today is to show you my take on Mojo Monday sketch #119.
This is the sketch.

And here is my take on the sketch:

I always wanted to combine with Eggplant and Kiwi Kiss colors. I added Whisper White to it and made a card with just cardstocks. No DSP used here. I love this color combo. I also like Kiwi Kiss and  Pacific Point together along with white. Will try the next sketch with this color combination.
Thanks for an awesome sketch.
Have a nice day

CD calendar

Hi everybody,
Hope you all had a lovely Christmas and getting back into regular day to day routine. You know what, I am waiting for my parcels to arrive. I can't wait for my postie to ring my door bell.I really enjoyed shopping online especially the boxing day sales and bought heaps of stuff. I am excited to receive them all, especially my clothes and scrapping stuff. then of course my vertical freezer and the Guinea pigs cage. Hope they arrive before the New Year Holidays.Fingers crossed!

In the mean while, I started makiing New Year gifts. its CD calendars.
Here are the pictures

Templates are available online. Just do a google search and you will get it. I choose cardstock colors based on the seasons and printed the calender on them accordingly. I then decorated the top portion using SU products and put them inside the CD plastic cover.
When you want to use it, just open the box, remove one side of the CD box, flip it over and attach it. Then slide the calendar card for each month on it. Leave the rest of the cards on the box behind. Its an awesome New Year gift. Simple and easy to make and importantly functional too.
I have 3 more to make. It will all be different designs and I will definitely show all of them when I finish.
I am melting today. The temperature today is 42 degree celcius and windy. Extreme UV and catastrophic fire danger warnings issued. Hope there are no bushfires this season.
I got to drink some cold water. Its hot over my throat and eyes are burning.
Hope my postie brings my parcels too!
You all have a great day

Nice beautiful straightforward sketch, I think!
Here is my take.

A valentine's card with no setiments yet. I haven't decided on whether to do sentiments on the outside or inside. I like the card the way it is now.I will stamp the sentiment depending on to whom the card is going to be given to!
Thanks again for an awesome sketch.

Not to forget

Hi everybody,

I have been recently forgetting to do many things. Sometimes it is an entire task, sometimes its part of a task. I don't have dementia lol! But I just have a lot to do on my plate. With kids around, the noise level is so high at home at the moment. Also the weather is very hot and tiring. I get anxious and then I forget. I then have to make a second or third trip to complete the task.
Therefore I started to write down what I want to do each day. For example, my shopping list, things to do each day at home (planned to clean one corner each day), combining trips so I can do two or more jobs at the same go etc.I found it very useful to write down and then tick when I finish. Its a bit of work but atleast saves me so much time and effort. I recently bought the "things to do pad" from PTI, along with other stuff, of course. I decked it up today. Its going to be my things to do pad which will be on my kitchen table. Because thats where I go the first thing in the morning. I then quickly write down when I have my coffee.

I also think I do spend more time surfing on the internet. So thats some thing I will have to reduce too. It will  be my new year resolution, although I have started spending less time on my laptop.OK, I think I am talking a bit too much which means I will be spending more time on the laptop. lol!!! Before I go I have a card to show you. I made using Razzle Dazzle Stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip, Very Vanilla  and Summer Sun
Stamp set: Razzle Dazzle Stamp set
Ink: Summer Sun
Accessories: Twine, Playground button, Kaisercraft rhinestone

Have a great holiday.

Bird House

Hi, Its a hot sunday morning. Slept in and just having breakfast. I thought I will blog this before I start my day. I made this last evening. Nicole Heady's blog has some awesome projects and free templates to download and make. I wanted to make all of them but started with the birdhouse box. Here it is.

I took a while to get the settings right for the printer to print on the cardstock and then ended up not printing a tiny bit at the beginning. I, therefore traced the front of the template again on the cardstock, cut it out and glued it on the front. Therefore I was also able to score the cardstock and get some extra dimension.I decorated it using some tiny flowers on the window planter. In Nicole's tutorial, she has not glued the roof on to the house. So its more like a box. She has a packet of seeds in them. I decided to glue the roof because I wanted to hang them. It was tricky. Took a while to stick together.Maybe for the next one, I will use brads to hold the roof to the house base.I think it could make a nice Christmas ornament too when made using Red and Green combination. One birdhouse for each family on the tree!

Check out more free projects and templates on her blog.

Have a great weekend.

School Holidays started

Yes, from today until end of January 2010. I slept in today. Feels nice.Siddarth and Aditi are watching ABC3. I am a bit annoyed at the ABC3 launch. My husband and myself decided against foxtel at home to avoid the 24/7 channels especially the cartoon network (and of course the cricket). I was sure my kids will start to manuplate us into watching CN all the time. Now, we have this ABC3 as free to air kids channel. I have put a timetable of times when they can watch based on what programs they like to watch. I am going to be strict with it and fingers crossed, it should work. I would rather they go out and play than sit with the TV. Next they will want to play Nintendo DS, then Wii and thats it the whole day is lost. I hate kids playing video games all the time. Its become a huge trend. Call friends over for play and then they sit in different rooms and do picture chat on Nintendo DS. Thats a big No No at my home. I have told all my kid's friends, that they should not bring their DS when they come to play with Siddarth and Aditi. They are allowed to bring a scooter or bicycle. They are happy with it and actually enjoy riding bicycle and scooter.

Let me stop boring you all. I am sure many of you have the same opinion or maybe a different opinion.
I made my last set Christmas card for this year. I think I have covered everyone. Anyway, I am done. I want to make something totally different. I will have to surf through and see if I can find something interesting.
But here are the cards.

I love Holiday Lineup from Stampin' Up!. I love coloring them. Great fun.
I have also added glitter on them for the festive feel.
Hope you all have a great holiday. if you are driving, drive carefully, eat food thats cooked well, keep watch over children all times and have fun.

See you soon

Lots of cards

Hi, How are you all? Hope you are having a good day so far. I finally completed assembling all the Ikea furnitures. I could not have done it with out my husband and the electric drill. Gosh! its so time consuming and frustrating.Kids now have space to store their clothes and books. Their rooms are more organised and tidy. What a relief! I will try and take a picture to show you all.
Yesterday, I also cleaned up my scrapbooking cupboard. Chucked out a lot of stuff. So now my cupboard is clean and tidy and I have 2 empty shelves to fill up! lol! Now that means????????? Some awesome stuff is on the way from far far away. Can't wait...
And most importantly my sewing machine is on the table all set to go whenever I need them. Saves the hassle of getting the machine out of the cupboard, out of the box, setting it up before sctually sewing. I am going to do some sewing today, Yay! I just hope the thread does not break in the middle sewing.I hate it and having to thread it again and again. oh! Any tips?
I made a few cards as well. I suddenly realised, I still have to make 8 more Christmas cards. So here I go again, making more Christmas cards. Here are a few I made yesterday.

I also made this card for the third Elite Challenge, the stamp set challenge. The stamp set to be used is from the new Summer Mini catalogue called "Hello Again"

Cardstock: Chocolate Chip and So Saffron
Ink: Chocolate Chip and Riding Hood Red
Stamp set: Hello Again
Accessories: Gingham red ribbon, Versamark, Clear embossing powder, Heat gun, Corner Punch and Playground buttons

I think I had a busy day yesterday after a dull beginning. Hoping today is more interesting.
See you soon with more to share

Color Challenge

Morning again.

I really don't know what to write today. I have got nothing special. Just the usual. Last but one day before school holidays. I still have no plans. We do not celebrate Christmas. No family around. So its just going to be us for the entire holidays. Two thirds of Kalgoorlie will leave town.So no many friends will be around too. Mmm! will be an interesting holiday.

Since I do not have anything to write, I will show what I made for a color challenge on Claire Daly's forum. The color combo I have used is Riding hood Red, Pink Piroutte, Whisper White and Basic Black.

I love the Like-O-Meter. Perfect way to convey a person what you feel.
It could also make a valentine's card like I made. This is for my husband.
I have not seen many cards using this stamp set. So will now go and do a google search.
Have a great day

Circle challenge

Morning everybody,

Yesterday was very very hot and humid day. Reached 41 degrees. Real feel was 45 probably. Stayed indoors the entire day, except when dropping and picking kids from school. I am hoping today is not as bad as yesterday. Can't stay indoors anymore. Have some errands to run.Going to Woolies again! lol!!!

Well, I made this card below for a circle challenge at Claire Daly's forum.

I punched out different size circles out of a scrap cardstock. Used the negative as a stencil on Whisper White cardstock and sponged out different colors. The colors I have used here are Tangerine Tango, Summer Sun, Kiwi Kiss and Pink Passion. I then stamped images from Fresh cuts stamp set using Staz on ink. I punched all of them out and arranged them on a Basic Black card.
Do you collect all the little stripes of cardstock after you punch out the scalloped border? Well I do!!!. I don't know why but I have a drawer full of all bits and pieces of cardstock. I am hoping I will use them someday. The Baja Breeze strip on the card is a left over cardstock from that drawer. I got the idea of using them like that from a card on the sale-a-bration catalogue. To complete the card, I added the rhinestone brads

I like the card. Hope you do too.
Have a great day!

Elite challenges

Hello everybody,

Its a very hot sunday afternoon. There is nothing I could do other than put some song on my laptop and make cards. I missed out on the November challenges on Elite blog as I was on holidays. So I decided to do the December challenges before I forget.
First comes the sketch challenge. You can find the sketch here.
Here is my take on the challenge

I have recently discovered the Bravo Burgundy color on the Stampin' Up! Nice dark color against white.

Card Stock: Kraft, Whisper White and Bravo Brugundy
Accessories: Dots and Designs rub ons, 5/8″ grosgrain regal Rose ribbon, circle punches, scalloped border punch, Filigree brads, pearls and Chit Chat rub-ons.All products from Stampin' Up! except the pearls.

Here is my take on the color challenge. You can find the color combination here. Its called Sugar Plum Fairy

Cardstock: Kraft, Perfect Plum, Pink Piroutte, Pale Plum
Stamp set: Butterfly Prints
Inks: Pink Piroutte and Perfect Plum
Accessories: White gel pen, Scalloped border punch, Butterfly punch, Rhinestone brads and stipped Pink Piroutte ribbon.
All products from Stampin' Up!

As promised

I will show you some Christmas gifts I made for the teachers. but before that, my card has received an honourable mention from Makeesha byl for her inkspiration challenge #16. Yay! Check it out here and here. Thanks Makeesha.I am truly honoured.

Here are some gifts I made for the school teachers. I wish I had a stamp set with sentiments thanking teachers. I am sure there are a few sets available. If any of you know such a stamp set, then please leave a comment telling me which company has them and if possible a link to it as well. Thanks in advance.

I have made 3 sets of the same, one each for Siddarth's and Aditi's class teacher and one for the principal. I also made 60 mini cards for Siddarth's and Aditi's classmates. I will put them up separately in the next post.
Now I have another 10 cards to make for my husband's colleagues. I don't know when I will complete that but definitely do over this weekend.

Although I love IKEA furnitures, I hate assembling them. I have just completed one. Three more to go. I also decided to try out the shabby chic paint effect on a desktop organiser also from. So I painted white and rubbed out a little to show some wood and then sanded it a little when dry. Time consuming but glad I did it. The piece looks awesome.

I am busy bee on the weekend. I have 3 more furnitures to assemble.Music lessons for kids and an evening party tomorrow. Gosh! I better not think about it right now. I have to sleep.
Hope you have a good relaxed weekend.
See you on Monday.

I am a proud mother.

Morning everybody,

I am a proud mother. Proud of my son Siddarth who won the Academic Achievement Award for his year last night at the school concert. He has done very well this year and all his hard work has paid off with a trophy for his guitar and award for academic achievement. Well done mate. We are proud of you.

Now after all that, Aditi, my DD is heavily blowing steam through both her ears. She was upset that the junior primary does not get any awards. She wants to jump to senior primary as soon as possible. lol!!! Not that she is not good, its just that she is little. Has to wait for another couple of years.Poor thing! But her concert was fantastic. She enjoyed it throughly, singing and dancing. Typical girl! The school concert was called The Musical Memories. Kids from each year danced to popular musicals. Aditi's year danced to "Lion King" and Siddarth's year danced to "Cats" The performance was brillant. Which kid would not like to dance and sing? Great theme choice.

Here are some photos

Fantastic costumes and great effort from the teachers and students as well. Can't believe the year is ending soon. One and half months of school holidays!!! Gosh, I have to plan for the holidays.

And oh! I could not curl my hair. I had too many interruptions. First, the delivery man with my IKEA stuff arrived, then came the plumber, then my husband for lunch and time to pick the kids from school.I started on my rightside and just got the trick right and came the doorbell. So frustrating!!! So I gave up curling. Its a time consuming process. But did straighten my hair. Maybe next time. I still have to get the trick right and be quick.
I currently have the Remington hair straightner. Wish I had GHD. Its too expensive. The saloons here sell for $320 which is too expensive compared to the prices in the east or even on the GHD website. So next time I go to Perth or to the east I will have to look for it.

I have some handmade Christmas gifts to show. Maybe in the second post later today. I have 4 pieces of IKEA furnitures to assemble.See you all later today.
Hugs
