It's time to make calendars!

Hello and welcome!

Today is start of Taylored Expressions November release sneak peek. Yes, lots of new goodies to be released on Thursday. Today I am showcasing new 5x7 2017 calendar and 3x4 watercolour panels from Taylored Expressions. 

These 3 x 4 calendar watercolour panels make it so easy to colour and add to the calendar pages above. I have showcased the months of January, February and March! 

I have used Zig clean brush markers to watercolour the panels. For some highlights on the hearts,  clouds and background of the snowflakes panel I used Finetec Mica Metallic watercolor paint. Love the shimmer from the mica on the panels. To complement the shimmer and colours, I added foil metallic border using the new Build a Scene 5x7 Calendar die and papers from DCVW foiled paper pad. I have used a 5 x 7 acrylic frame to showcase the calendar. Hence I have kept the calendar page completely flat. This frame is available for purchase from Taylored Expressions store.  You can similarly colour the rest of the panels to make your calendar. A quick and perfect gift to give for the new year to your colleague or friend or family.

I fell in love with the Sprinkled with Joy stamp set and coordinating dies after I saw Kelly's video. LOVE how the oven opens and great to make interactive cards. I am usually not the one to make elaborate interactive cards as it take a lot of time engineering them. I am more of a quick and easy cardmaker. But this stamp set made me push outside my comfort zone and make an elaborate interactive card. Here is the card.

This card took me about four hours to make because I had a certain idea in my mind and wanted to put that on paper. I wanted the oven door to open from the card front and see the oven tray with cookies on the inside of the card. So essentially a window card.  When I started making the card, I had a tradesman come in to fix the gyprock in my dining room after a waterleak. So I had to bring all the supplies down to the dining table so I can craft and keep an eye on the trades at work. I realised that I cannot multitask! I made so many mistakes, unnecessarily complicated the process and had to redo so many parts of the card. But I got there finally. 

You can see in the photo below the oven on the front of the card and the tray with cookies and other accessories inside the card.

I stamped and coloured the oven and the accessories I needed using copic makers. Then die cut using the coordinating dies. I also die cut the card front and a white stitched panel using the oven die. I adhered an acetate sheet behind the panel after sponging ink using the stencil on top of the panel and ink on the bottom of the panel. Then inlaid coloured oven die on the panel. I also die cut a similar die without stamping the oven image and adhered on the other side of the panel. I adhered this panel on the card front with plaid pattern paper making sure I lined up the die cut openings. I added the towel and the open me tag to the oven on the front. Then I added a black glitter scalloped frame and stamped sentiment on a sponged strip of card. And finally embellished using sparkly clear sequins. 

Here is the inside of the card.

I aligned the tray such that you can see the tray inside the oven when the oven door is opened front the card front but inside the card as you see in the photo above, the tray with cookies and all the accessories next to it. I added a strip of the same plaid pattern paper from the card front to coordinate. Sentiment is from same stamp set is stamped on a strip of cardstock sponged with ink.

I wish I was alone at home and had more pleasant experience making it. But hey I stuck to the process, never gave up despite the mistakes and love the result. How cute is the oven and the accessories? Adore the towel on it. I felt like I was playing with the miniature cooking set I used to have as a child. Believe in the Magic of Christmas

Hello and welcome! By now you know about the gorgeous release from Simon Says Stamp! Believe In the Season is the name of the new release and you can find all the new release products at Simon Says Stamp store.

I received the most awesome stamp set from the release from Heidi on Friday - BELIEVE! Absolutely love the sentiments in the stamp set. And its is a versatile sentiments which can be used for various cards other than holiday card. I really love the sentiment "Believe in the magic of Christmas" Christmas always feels like magic to me with lots of colours, festivities, happiness and food! So I used this sentiment from the stamp set and combined with the previously released stamp set called An Arctic Christmas to make my card.

I die cut the kraft card stock using Mama Elephant scalloped rectangle die. Then stamped the image from An Arctic Christmas stamp set using white pigment ink. Then used copic marker to colour the image. I did not used any shading as I love the muted colours on Kraft card stock.

I also brushed some of the areas on the copic coloured image with Wink of Stella clear shimmer pen. Then I white heat embossed the sentiment form Believe stamp set on top of the panel. To fill in the gaps, I scatter stamped the stars from An Arctic Christmas stamp set using white pigment ink and coloured with yellow copic marker. I mounted this panel on a white card base and added some Nuvo Glitter drops on the top half of the panel.

I particularly love the traditional muted colours on Kraft card panel. Something is magic about it! I have listed all the supplies I used to make this card, below.
