Thinking of you...

Morning everybody,

I have been making more embossing plates using my dies. Here is one more card made using homemade embossing plate. The dies I have used on this green panel is made using Turning New Leaf dies from Papertrey Ink.

closeup

I figured out after making a few embossing panels from dies, that embossing is much more defined with solid dies, cut using thicker cardboard. I tried using tissuebox but the embossing is not so good. The toys and games packaging cardboard is perfect. exact thickness to run through cuttlebug without stressing it and gives good impression.
Here is a close up of the card

PTI Blog Hop - January 2012

This month, in honor of the new year, we are challenging you to pick your
favorite project from 2011 and share it with al of us!  To take it a step
further, you are also challenged to create a second card that is inspired by
the favorite project you select.  Your new version of an old favorite could
carry over the color scheme, the layout or the stamp sets.  We look forward
to seeing your best creations from 2011 as well as one of your first projects
for 2012!
Picking "a" favourite project from 2011 is such a difficult thing to do. Na.... I could not do it. I pick a bunch and finally narrowed it to two. Here is my first favourite card from 2011

I made this card for MIM and love to create my own background using stamps. Recreated another card using this card as an inspiration. I created a background using PTI's Rosie Posie stamp set. Here is the card for you

Happy Birthday card

I wanted a modern looking background and Rosie Posie stamps are perfect for do that. I also choose lighter colours and kept the sentiment simple on a banner diecut.
Supplies:
Cardstock: SU's Tempting Turquoise, Daffodil Delight and White
Stamp sets: Rosie Posie and Butterfly Dreams from PTI
Inks: Amuse's Bubblegum,Pappaya, Grass and Ocean ink and SU's Basic Grey ink
Accessories: Spellbinder's banner die, cuttlebug.

Second card which is my favourite is this one

I love Modern Basic Stamp set and the striped background I had created. Wanted a modern take on this one too and so changed the colours but kept the layout.

Brighter card

I love grey and any colour together especially orange.Bright and modern and perfect with that sentiment.

Supplies:
Cardstock: Canyon Clay from PTI and white from SU
Stamp sets: Modern Basic and Think Big Favourite from PTI
Ink: Tangerine Tango and Basic Grey from SU and Stazon Black Ink

Thanks so much for visiting! Happy Hopping :)

The Map to Your Heart

Moxie Fab Challenge has a challenge called The Map to Your Heart - make projects using maps :) I love the idea and the inspirations are just magnificant. But when coming to making a project, I was stumped. Well, as the deadline is approaching, I was more determined to make something. I am a person who works well if I have deadline
So here is what I came up with.

Map frame

I printed out a map and ran alpha dies to get map alpha diecuts. I cut alphabet "I" and "U" using black cardstock. You can see how I am still using the rainbow striped leftovers by punching the heart shape :)
So the "I" "♥" and "U"  standout against the other map alphabets.

Supplies
Cardstock: White and Black cardstock.
Pattern Paper: Printed map from the computer
Accessories: White frame, Heart punch from SU, MFT Alpha dies, Cuttlebug and rainbow strip from previous project.

Life!!!

Remember yesterday's card? While making the panel and trimming off the edges, I was left with a strip which kind of looked like a graph. So I thought I will not throw it in the bin but make use of it and make another card. Here is the card.

Life graph card

I like the graph look of the cutout strip and also how the colours gave depth and meaning. I knew the perfect sentiment for it and pulled out Life stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I love this card. Profound  and graphic lol! Hope you do too :)

Supplies:
Cardstock: Stamper's Select White, Pure Poppy, Golden Harvest, Orange Zest, Simply Chartreuse, Blueberry Sky and Hibiscus Burst from Papertrey Ink.
Stamp set : Life from Papertrey Ink
Inks: Stazon Black Ink

RIC #4

I dreamt of rainbows and dragons last night!!! Weird isn't it? Don't know how the association between rainbows and dragons came about but I dreamt of them together.

Last night on the News they were talking about chinese new year celebrations and the next lunar year is year of dragons. Then my DD was thrilled because she is into dragons at the moment. She completed all of  Chris D Lacey's Dragon Chronicles series and now into Aerogon by Christopher Paolini. She also makes dragons using clay at home. So her room is full of dragons. I wouldn't want to sleep in her room. I will definitely get frightened at night if I wake up to see dragons everywhere lol! That is where the dragons came from.

But how rainbows came into the dream! I don't know. Don't remember the full dream vivdly but this one thing.  I remember about the butterflies flying around and when they flew on the rainbow they changed their colours into rainbow colours. Totally camourflaged. So when I woke up, I went straight to my craft table and put this part of my dream into a card :)

Rainbow butterfly card

Here is the close up of the butterfly which I adhered using foam squares.
