Couple of pink girly birthday cards

Hey everyone,

Hope you enjoyed Christmas with presents, fabulous food and company :)  And are you still having a great holiday season? I am enjoying the holidays with every one at home, relaxed, great food and watching TV. Wish life was like this all the time :)

Today I have couple of birthday cards for you. These ones are very girly and pink lol! I am starting to stock up on my birthday card collection for next year. So these are the first cards :)

I have used Penny Black stamp sets called Cake and Wishes on both my cards.

Here is the first one.

Pink Girly card2

I heat embossed the image on watercolour paper and coloured using Gansai Tambi watercolours. I then trimmed off 1/4" of an inch from the vertical side. I stamped the sentiment also from the stamp set. The pink glitter tape is from American Crafts which I adhered on the card base and the watercolour panel using foam adhesives. I have used a blue baker's twine to tie in the blues on the image with the rest of the card. And added fish tail banner cut glitter tape on the top right. Here is a closeup!

Pink girly card2 closeup!

For the second card, I have used this girl with cupcake image from Cake and Wishes stamp set.

Pink girly card 1

The process is pretty much the same except I have changed the layout of the card and used die cut from Celebrations die set also from Penny Black. Here is the closeup of the coloured image.

I love these super cute images from the Cake and Wishes stamp set. There are two more images on them which I plan to use similarly. Hopefully soon and share with you.

There is still time...

This challenge is sponsored by Avery Elle! I have used one of their older stamp set to make my second card.

Have a bright Christmas

I white heat embossed the burst image and then stamped the circle image using the red dye ink. I then used the smaller circle image to stamp in aqua colour. Stamp the sentiment in black. Here is a closeup!

A couple more Christmas cards

Hey folks,

Sharing couple of Christmas cards I had made. These are one offs and does not belong to a set.

Red merry Christmas

I wanted white and gold combination with a splash of  Christmas colours. I die cut the scalloped panel using Mama Elephant die and two inner panels one from vellum hexagonal paper and one from white cardstock using the same Mama Elephant die. The reindeer and the wreath are from Essentials by Ellen. So is the sentiment die cut. I have used green and red glitter paper to die cut the wreath and sentiment. No stamping on this card. Only layering die cuts. Here is a closeup.

Red merry christmas closeup

For this second card, I have die cut the gold panel using Mama Elephant die, the inner panel again layered using vellum and white cardstock. The wreath is die cut using green cardstock and the reindeer using gold cardstock. The sentiment from Essentials by Ellen again die cut using gold cardstock.

Merry Christmas1

I just love the use of enamel dots on the reindeers. Adds a nice touch. A closeup for you.

Runway Inspired challenge #74

Hey everybody,

Welcome to the last Runway Inspired Challenge of 2014.

When I first saw this photo, I instantly loved it. I love Orange colour and love the abstract shaded orange on the dress with the red belt. Bright against the white background and the neutral shoes and clutch. I wish I had this dress. So my card for this challenge uses all of these. Here is my take on the challenge.

let's celebrate card1

I have used images from new Vintage Roses stamp set from Altenew to stamp in shades of orange and red. I left a lot of white space where I have stamped the sentiment also from Altenew. I then added a strip of neutral wooden plank paper on the bottom of the card front. Accented with a few glossy orange enamel dots.
This challenge runs until January 2nd 2015! Our first challenge for 2015 will start January 6th.

Check out Runway Inspired Challenge Blog for more DT inspiration and linky to link your card.

Thank you so much Avery Elle for your generosity in providing DTs with a stamp set. I chose Merry & Bright stamp set. Here is my take on Candy Cane challenge using the stamp set.

Merry Christmas Avery Elle

I white heat embossed the image on watercolour paper and water coloured red. Then used the negative of the circle die cut from a cardstock panel over it. I added the floss from Pretty Pink Posh in aqua colour and also the babble lid in aqua. The rest of the sentiment is stamped on a strip of cardstock and added using foam adhesives. Finally embellished with rhinestones. I have simply used the colours from the challenge graphics to make my card. Hope you like it.

Christmas Card Series - Set #10

Presenting my final Christmas card set in this Christmas Card Series.
This is my 10th set. I cannot believe I pulled this series off. It was not planned ahead. I was making plenty of Christmas cards and I thought why not do a series and tutorial. Honestly I thought after a few I will be short of time and won't be able to continue. I am proud of my efforts. Next year, I will make  graphics and have a format going. :)

This set has five cards. Here is all of them together.

All together

For this tutorial, I picked the die and stamp set first and worked my way towards the layout. They are from Penny Black. The stamp set is called  Most Wonderful and the die is called Glorious.

Here is how I made the cards.

This is the finished card.

Season's greetings triangle bg

I basically wanted some gold & blue/mint colours  with some woodgrain/music elements. So I collected five blue and mint coloured  pattern papers from my stash. I don't even know which collection or brand they are from. Sorry! The woodgrain  paper is from My Mind's Eye. Music and newspaper pattern papers also from various collections.  I love the different patterns on each of the background thereby making each card different. I have also tried to stamp the images from Most Wonderful stamp set either in gold or silver just to add variation.

Here are the rest of the individual cards in the set. You can see how different they are yet they use similar colours, sentiment, die cut and sequins.

Hope you liked this set. I think this set probably is my favourite.

I  also wanted to show you my photography set up.

Photography settings

I have a basket of props I pick up from discount stores. Some are neutral props and others are themed for various occasions. I also try and use some craft supplies like sequins, inkpads, washi tapes... The book base is my son's laptop. It is a laptop cover. This desk is next to sliding doors in my dining room. So there is plenty of natural light. My camera is on a tripod. I adjust the height of the tripod. For this series I have raised the height to have photos taken slightly above. This is because the gold foil of the die cut was glaring and looked faded in a direct shot instead of nice and golden. Normally I take at the eye level.  I take at high resolution photos  - one portrait, one closeup and one long shot. Then edit them. Shoot me if you have any questions.

Thanks so much for all your support and enthusiasm for this Christmas Card Series.
Thinking of introducing some mini card series next year. Email me if you have any particular theme or occasion in mind at scrapawayg3@gmail.com I will plan and work out the logistic :)

Tis the Season to be Jolly!

Dear friends,

I am still making Christmas cards as I discover I have missed out couple of friends here and there :) So today I have a non traditional Christmas card.

Tis the season card

To make this card, I have used a grey cardstock. This is probably from Stampin'  Up! It has been in my stock for a long time. I also trimmed a panel using the same cardstock on which I silver heat embossed this holly image from Penny Black's Festive Floral stamp set. I then coloured the leaves with Crushed Olive and branches with Tea Dye distress markers. Then I brushed the edges of the image with Picket Fence distress marker. I discovered Picket Fence marker :) I love the effect it gave around the image.

Tis the season flat

I used Classic Christmas 4mm red sequins from Pretty Pink Posh as berries. For the sentiment, I simply die cut "Tis the season to be Jolly falalala" from  Penny Black Tis the Season die using silver cardstock. I trimmed the falalala which I adhered inside the card. I sponged some white pigment ink on the edges of this panel. Mounted this panel on the card base using foam adhesives. Here is a closeup!

Something different and outside the box yet festive.

Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog Hop!

Welcome to the Holiday Coffee Lovers Blog hop!

10387334_10205497928798191_6969170445606876051_n

This blog hop is organised by Amy Tsuruta and team. Being a coffee lover, I decide to participate in the hop especially for the holiday season. First, here is my card for the hop.

Merry Christmas card

All I did was to collect all the stamp sets with coffee cup from my stash. I did that basically to plan on a set I wanted to use to make the card. Then I wanted to use all the coffee cups on my card. Lol! At least a few of them if not all :) So that is how this card came about. I started with white heat embossing the sentiment. I simply white heat embossed the coffee cups on fog cardstock. The coffee cups were from stamp sets from Paper Smooches, Clearly Besotted, Lil' INkers and Jane Doodle. Then white heat embossed the snow flakes from a Clearly Besotted stamp set. I then coloured the coffee cups with distress markers. I instantly loved how it looked - modern and trendy :) I then trimmed the panel and mounted on the white card base. No card of mine is complete without Pretty Pink Posh sequins :)
